What Makes Profhilo Different from Other Injectables?

The injectable aesthetics market can feel crowded and confusing. Anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, skin boosters, mesotherapy, each term carries a different meaning, and Profhilo is none of these things, despite being delivered with a needle.

Dermal fillers are designed to add volume to a specific area: plumping a lip, lifting a cheek, softening a deep fold. They stay where they are placed. Skin boosters, meanwhile, are superfine hyaluronic acid preparations injected in a grid of tiny deposits across the skin to improve hydration and radiance. Profhilo does something fundamentally different. It is a bio-remodeller: its purpose is not to add volume or simply hydrate, but to trigger the skin's own regenerative processes so that structural proteins, collagen and elastin, are produced afresh.

This distinction matters because it changes the kind of result you can expect. Rather than an immediate, visible change in shape or plumpness, Profhilo works gradually and organically, improving the overall quality, firmness, and luminosity of skin from within.

How Does Profhilo Work?

Profhilo is made from a very high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid (HA), one of the highest concentrations available in any injectable product on the market. What makes it distinctive is how that HA is stabilised. Most dermal fillers use a chemical cross-linking agent called BDDE (1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether) to hold the HA molecules together and keep the product in place once injected. Profhilo is BDDE-free. Instead, its manufacturer uses a patented thermal bonding process to create a product that contains both high-molecular-weight HA and low-molecular-weight HA in a single preparation, without any synthetic cross-linkers.

This matters because the two molecular weights of HA behave differently once inside the tissue:

• High-molecular-weight HA provides intense hydration and creates a slow-release depot beneath the skin.
• Low-molecular-weight HA penetrates more deeply and acts as a signalling molecule, prompting fibroblast cells to produce new collagen and elastin.

Together, they deliver both immediate deep hydration and a longer-term remodelling effect that continues to improve skin quality over the weeks following treatment.

The BAP Technique

Profhilo is administered using the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP) technique: a standardised injection protocol that uses five precise anatomical points on each side of the face. These points are specifically chosen to allow the product to spread evenly through the subcutaneous tissue, ensuring consistent coverage without the need for multiple needle passes across the whole face. The technique keeps discomfort and the risk of bruising to a minimum, and the entire injection process typically takes less than ten minutes.

What Skin Concerns Does It Address?

Profhilo is most effective when skin has begun to show signs of age-related change, the kind that is more about quality and texture than about deep lines or lost volume. The concerns it addresses best include:

What Happens at a Profhilo Appointment?

Your Profhilo appointment begins before the first needle is uncapped. At Regener8 Aesthetics, we do not begin treatment at an initial consultation, the consultation itself is a standalone appointment in which we examine your skin, discuss your medical history, and make sure you understand exactly what to expect. Only at a subsequent appointment does treatment begin.

On the day of your treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left for around twenty minutes. Once the skin is comfortable, your practitioner will clean the area and administer the product using the BAP technique, five injection points per side of the face, placed at specific anatomical landmarks. The product is injected as small depots just beneath the skin's surface, where it begins to spread and integrate with the surrounding tissue.

After the injections you may notice small raised bumps at each injection point. These are temporary and typically resolve within a few hours. Some clients experience mild redness or, occasionally, light bruising. You can return to your normal activities the same day, though we advise avoiding vigorous exercise, alcohol, extreme heat (such as saunas), and makeup for at least 24 hours.

The entire treatment appointment, from numbing to completion, lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

How Many Sessions and When Will I See Results?

The standard Profhilo protocol consists of two treatment sessions spaced four weeks apart. This two-session course is what has been studied and recommended by the manufacturer, and it reflects the way the product works: the first session primes the tissue and initiates the bio-remodelling process, while the second session builds on and consolidates those early changes.

Results do not appear immediately, and that is by design. Because Profhilo works by stimulating your body's own collagen and elastin production, the most visible improvements emerge gradually in the weeks following each session. Many clients notice enhanced skin quality, improved firmness, and a more luminous complexion within four to six weeks of completing their course.

Results typically last around six months, at which point a single maintenance session is usually sufficient to sustain the effect. Some clients find they return for a top-up once or twice a year, depending on their skin and their goals.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Profhilo suits a broad range of people, though it tends to be most impactful for those who are beginning to notice changes in skin quality rather than major structural changes. Ideal candidates are typically:
