Microneedling prompts the skin's own repair response, so the days afterwards matter. Good aftercare keeps the skin comfortable and protects the result.
This is general guidance. Follow the specific aftercare your practitioner provides for your treatment.
The first 24 to 48 hours
Redness similar to mild sunburn is normal in the first day or two after microneedling, and the skin may feel tight or sensitive. Keep the routine simple and gentle: cleanse carefully, avoid touching the skin unnecessarily, and use only the products your practitioner recommends during this period.
What to avoid
For a short window it is sensible to avoid make-up on freshly treated skin, vigorous exercise and sweating, saunas and steam, and active ingredients such as retinoids and acids, all of which can irritate skin that is repairing. Your practitioner will tell you how long to hold off.
SPF is essential
Skin is more vulnerable to the sun after microneedling, so daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential, not optional. Beyond the immediate recovery period, ongoing daily SPF protects the collagen response the treatment has prompted and is central to a good long-term result.
Supporting the result
A consistent, well-matched routine supports the benefit between sessions. At Regener8 your homecare is part of the Skin Regeneration Programme, chosen at assessment and reviewed as your skin responds.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does redness last after microneedling?
Mild redness usually settles within a day or two, though this varies with the depth of treatment and your skin. Your practitioner will tell you what to expect for your specific session.
When can I use my usual skincare again?
Active ingredients such as retinoids and acids are usually reintroduced after a short pause once the skin has settled. Your practitioner will give you exact timing.
