What Is Jalupro HMW?
Jalupro HMW is an injectable skin biorevitalisation treatment. The letters HMW stand for high molecular weight, which refers to the type of hyaluronic acid it contains. The treatment combines this high molecular weight hyaluronic acid with a cluster of amino acids: glycine, L-proline, L-lysine and L-leucine. Jalupro describes HMW as a dermal biorevitalisation treatment, and its purpose is to support skin hydration and overall skin quality rather than to add volume.
This is an important distinction. Jalupro HMW is not a dermal filler. Fillers are designed to add volume or reshape a specific area and they remain where they are placed. Jalupro HMW works differently: it is intended to support the condition and quality of the skin itself. At Regener8 Aesthetics in Selly Oak, Birmingham, we offer Jalupro HMW as part of our evidence-informed, regenerative approach, and always following a full consultation and skin assessment.
Jalupro produces more than one product in its range, and the evidence and guidance for each product differ. The information on this page relates to Jalupro HMW specifically. Where general information about the Jalupro range is relevant, we make that clear rather than implying it is specific to HMW.
How Does Jalupro HMW Work?
Skin firmness and resilience depend heavily on collagen, a structural protein produced by cells in the skin called fibroblasts. Collagen is built from amino acids, which are the individual building blocks the body assembles into proteins. The amino acids in Jalupro HMW, glycine, L-proline, L-lysine and L-leucine, are among those the body uses in collagen-related processes.
The idea behind the treatment is to place these amino acids, together with hydrating hyaluronic acid, into the skin where fibroblasts are active. The amino acids provide raw material associated with collagen synthesis, while the hyaluronic acid supports hydration and a favourable environment for the skin. The aim is a gradual improvement in skin quality and hydration rather than an immediate change in shape or volume.
High molecular weight hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and has a strong capacity to hold water. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid consists of larger molecules that sit within the skin and support long-lasting hydration. In Jalupro HMW, this hydrating component works alongside the amino acid cluster.
Glycine, L-proline, L-lysine and L-leucine
These four amino acids are the cluster used in Jalupro HMW. Glycine and L-proline are closely associated with collagen, which is unusually rich in both. L-lysine and L-leucine are further amino acids the body draws on in protein-related processes. Provided together in the skin, they are intended to support the environment in which fibroblasts produce collagen.
The role of fibroblasts and collagen
Fibroblasts are the workhorse cells of the deeper skin. Among their jobs is producing collagen and elastin, the proteins that give skin its firmness and bounce. As we age, fibroblast activity and collagen quality tend to decline, which contributes to the loss of firmness, hydration and radiance that many people notice over time. Treatments in the biorevitalisation category aim to support these cells and processes rather than to fill or reshape.
Hydration and Skin Quality Objectives
Jalupro HMW is chosen when the goal is healthier looking, better hydrated, better quality skin. Typical objectives discussed at consultation include:
- Improved skin hydration and a more supple feel
- Support for overall skin quality, tone and texture
- A refreshed, healthier looking appearance without added volume
- Support for the skin's own collagen-related processes over time
Because the treatment works with the skin's own biology, changes develop gradually rather than instantly, and individual outcomes vary.
Suitable Treatment Areas
Jalupro HMW is commonly considered for areas where the aim is to improve the quality and hydration of the skin, including the face, the neck, the décolletage and the hands. It may also be discussed for the skin around the mouth where the goal is skin quality rather than lip volume. The areas appropriate for you are determined at your assessment.
Who May Be Suitable?
Jalupro HMW may be suitable for adults who are noticing a decline in skin quality, hydration or firmness and who prefer a treatment that supports the skin rather than adding volume. It is often discussed by people who want to care for skin quality on the face, neck, décolletage or hands.
Suitability is always established individually. Jalupro HMW is generally not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, where there is an active skin infection or inflammatory condition in the treatment area, or for those with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or to any of the ingredients. A full medical history review forms part of every consultation.
Consultation and Assessment
At Regener8 Aesthetics we do not begin treatment at your first appointment. The consultation is a standalone appointment in which your practitioner assesses your skin, discusses your goals, reviews your medical history and explains what Jalupro HMW can and cannot do. Only if it is genuinely suitable, and only at a later appointment, does treatment go ahead. This appointment is subject to a £25 consultation and skin assessment fee, which is fully redeemable against treatment booked within 30 days.
What Treatment Involves
- Preparation. The treatment area is cleansed and a topical numbing cream may be applied for comfort.
- Treatment. Jalupro HMW is administered into the skin using a fine needle, as a series of small injections across the treatment area. The appointment is typically straightforward and time-efficient.
- Aftercare guidance. Your practitioner provides personalised aftercare advice and, where a course is appropriate, arranges your follow-up session.
- Review. Skin quality and hydration are expected to develop gradually over the following weeks. A review helps assess progress and plan any maintenance.
Contraindications and Precautions
As with any injectable treatment, there are situations in which Jalupro HMW is not recommended, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, and known hypersensitivity to any ingredient. Certain medical conditions and medicines may also affect suitability. These are checked during your medical history review, and your practitioner will advise honestly if the treatment is not right for you.
Expected Downtime
Downtime is usually minimal. You may notice small raised points at the injection sites, mild redness or, occasionally, light bruising. These effects typically settle within 24 to 48 hours. Recovery experiences vary between individuals.
Aftercare
You will receive personalised aftercare guidance at your appointment. General advice commonly includes keeping the area clean, avoiding make-up over the injection points for the rest of the day, and avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and other intense heat for around 24 hours. Daily sun protection supports skin quality between and after treatments.
Realistic Expectations
Jalupro HMW supports skin hydration and quality gradually, and results are not guaranteed. Outcomes depend on factors including your skin, your age, your lifestyle and how consistently you follow your recommended plan and skincare. Your practitioner will discuss what is realistic for your skin at your assessment, and will never promise a specific outcome.
Pricing
Jalupro HMW, Selly Oak, Birmingham
The course of two is a value option, not a requirement for every client. The most appropriate treatment plan is discussed following consultation and skin assessment. The £25 consultation fee is fully redeemable against any treatment booked and carried out within 30 days. Prices are correct at the time of publication and may be subject to change.
Treatment Course and Maintenance
Current manufacturer guidance for Jalupro HMW describes a short course of treatments spaced a couple of weeks apart. In practice this is why we offer a course of two as well as a single treatment. Whether a single session or a course is right for you, and whether periodic maintenance is worthwhile, is decided together at your assessment rather than assumed in advance.
Jalupro HMW and the Skin Booster Category
You may encounter Jalupro HMW discussed within the broad skin booster or skin-quality category online, because it is an injectable treatment aimed at hydration and skin quality rather than volume. It is helpful to be precise: Jalupro itself describes HMW as a dermal biorevitalisation treatment. It is not the same as Profhilo, which is a hyaluronic acid bio-remodelling treatment, and it sits apart again from polynucleotides, which are a separate regenerative category. If you would like to understand how these differ, our Knowledge Centre explains each clearly, and your practitioner will help you choose what suits your skin.
